Morning Reminders
James Smith (1802-1862)
First published in the early 1840s as The Believer’s Daily Remembrancer: Pastor’s Morning Visits, this book of short, daily devotions was originally written by Pastor Smith for his own congregation. It soon became a cherished favourite among many Christians. By 1846, thirty thousand copies were already in circulation, and within the next twenty years, almost forty editions had been printed.
This new edition has been beautifully re-typeset and includes a brief biography of the author’s life and works, along with a complete index of all the Scripture references used for each devotion.
The present humble work is a pastoral effort, flowing from love to the Lord’s people, and a desire to honour His great name. It is an acknowledged fact that many of the Lord’s people are living far below their privileges....My desire is to promote the power of godliness, and these little pieces are written to convince, comfort, and correct; to fan the flame of devotion, and to produce holiness of heart and life.
