Evening Reminders

James Smith (1802-1862)

After the favourable reception of his first book of daily devotions, Pastor James Smith was encouraged to write a companion volume for his earlier work. This book, originally published in 1846 under the title, The Believer’s Daily Remembrancer: Pastor’s Evening Visits, is the fruit of those labours. Suitable for both private and family worship, it contains a short, evening devotion for every day of the year.

This new edition has been beautifully re-typeset and includes a brief biography of the author’s life and works, along with a complete index of all the Scripture references used for each of the devotions.

We want more of Christ and less of self. May the Lord, who has so graciously made use of the former volume for the good of His people and the glory of His name, make use of this also. May it endear the Saviour, promote confidence in God, lead to entire consecration of soul to Him, and be the means of comforting many a weary pilgrim. May we all be led from the fleeting vanities of time, to the substantial realities of eternity.

— from the Author’s Preface.
