Daily Bible Readings
James Smith (1802-1862)
Following the widespread circulation of his two previous daily devotionals, James Smith was urged to write a third volume for use in family worship, where both believers and unbelievers may be present. This book, originally published in 1850 under the title, Daily Bible Readings for the Lord’s Household, contains 366 devotions for every day of the year.
This new edition has been beautifully re-typeset and includes a brief biography of the author’s life and works, along with a complete index of all the Scripture references used for each devotion.
If the object is to lead sinners to the Saviour, and to bring believers into closer communion with him, we may expect the Lord’s blessing; and if the writer knows his own heart, this is his object in these pages. He has endeavoured also to stir up the minds of the Lord’s people, to caution them against sin, to guard them against Satan, and to stimulate them in the path of holy obedience.
